Love this! I've definitely fallen victim to this. Feeling like I fit in with the grandma-core or cottage-core or maybe I'm a granola girl. But as I'm distancing myself from social media, I'm slowly starting to discover who I am – and who I want to be – when I'm not trying to follow a certain aesthetic.
In the 90s/2000s we called these things subcultures they involved actually doing things not just consumption however. Anyway while there are tweaks here & there most of my basic tastes & interests are similar to what they were in high school. More in depth and broader in diff ways. Hippie, art noveau, mythic, fantasy, medieval, Romantic. Folk art from around the world.

That's such a good way to do it. Look into the core reason why you feel called to a certain trend and iterate on that feeling
As a teenager we even knew about this (my bestie and I) and we used to just simply call them "phases" haha.
