This is part 5 of an 8-part series of conversations with culture experts from around the world. In each of these episodes, we dive deep into an online subculture or trend that they have been tracking for years.
girl online is an independent platform that reports on what women are doing on the internet and what the internet is doing to them. The weekly stories that you read on Wednesdays (which I admittedly haven’t been super consistent on but I am trying xD) are written by me, based on what the web feeds me, and filtered through my lens. This series is an attempt to bring in diverse experiences of digital girlhood to you.
In this episode, I am joined by Jade Hurley, and we talk about heterosexual relationships, the societal pressure to get married and discuss whether all this celebrity wedding content is making it cool to get married young again.
Special shoutout to my sister, Azha, for editing this conversation. If you’d like to fund my work on here, here’s the tip jar.
