generational baddies w/ Anna Pompilio

Who are they? Why are we obsessed with them?

This is part 1 of an 8-part series of conversations with culture experts from around the world. In each of these episodes, we dive deep into an online subculture or trend that they have been tracking for years.

girl online is an independent platform that reports on what women are doing on the internet and what the internet is doing to them. The weekly stories that you read on Wednesdays are written by me, based on what the web feeds me, and filtered through my lens. This series is an attempt to bring in diverse experiences of digital girlhood to you.

In this episode, I am joined by Anna Pompilio, and we talk about who she calls generational baddies and what they do for a generation of young girls taught how to smile and talk to ensure a wrinkle-free life.

The quality of the recording is a bit poor as we recorded through Substack. But until I can afford a subscription to a recording platform, we will have to make do with it. Special shoutout to my sister, Azha Ahad, for editing this conversation. If you’d like to fund a recording platform for me, here’s the tip jar.

Here are a few links to the stuff we mention in the podcast:
